My sister and I were brought up by our creative mother who dedicated our childhoods to exploring arts and crafts. From marbling in the wheelbarrow to pressing Lino cuts through the old mangle, we were encouraged to be experimental and to have fun with art, playing around with different processes and techniques. Skip forward a few years and I completed my masters degree in Textile Design, where I had fun entwining modern and traditional processes to evolve non-traditional creative techniques. Processes such as block printing, digital design, laser cutting, constructing materials and 3D experimentation are still among my favourite areas to work in.
I’m currently working from Lancashire as a multi-disciplinary decorative artist, with a focus on earring design. Jewellery has always been a great passion of mine- as a girl I wore bangles up my arms and rings on all my fingers. Jewellery can bring such a sense of joy and I want my accessories to bring confidence to the wearer through the statement shapes and bold colours. I am an eclectic hoarder with a maximalist mentality, driven by a love of folk crafts and antique artefacts, which is often reflected in the pieces I make. I create things to last: to be modern day heirlooms. I see each piece through its making process to the final product, designing to create minimal waste.
